Not only are they 100% natural and healthy they're a great incentive and fun way to involve the children in the kitchen at home.
Green Bread
We added dried parsley (3 tbsp) and dried oregano (1 tbsp), which we ground to a fine powder, mixed in with the flour and dried yeast.
Pink Bread
We added 1 large cooked finely grated beetroot to the warm water and olive oil stage.
Yellow Corn Bread
We added pureed cooked sweetcorn (10 oz - 285 g) and finely grated lemon zest (2 lemons) to the warm water and olive oil stage. Flours used 50% white and 50% cornmeal.
Orange Bread
We added finely grated raw carrots (3 medium sized) and finely grated orange zest (2 oranges) to the warm water and olive oil stage.
Basic Recipe for these breads
- 1 lb (500g) strong white bread flour
- 3 tsp instant dried yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp caster sugar
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup (200ml) cup warm water
- Extra flour for dusting
